Cheri Salvetti, born in Syracuse, NY studied piano first before choosing drums during her middle and high school years. She played in concert, Dixieland and even in an all female rock band by age 16. After high school, Cheri enrolled into Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY. There she graduated with an Associate Degree in Recreational Leadership. Cheri managed a fitness center in her twenties and even placed third in a New York State's woman's body building competition. Getting back into music in 1992, Cheri played along the coast as well as traveling from the FL Keys to Montana playing with a few different bands throughout the decade. In 1997, Cheri founded Rhythm & Rain. She helped bring success to the duo with her creative talent and smooth harmony for seven years. Her unique array of mostly Latin percussion instruments gave that full rhythm signature sound the duo was known for. In 2004, Cheri started her business, “Island of Rhythm Entertainment” Over the past 7 years, Cheri has played with & booked various entertainers in the south including parrot head headliners such as Sunny Jim whom she played with for “Meeting of The Minds” in 2005. She also has put together the parrot head bands for the Gulfport Chamber’s annual “Margaritafest” 2005 & 2010 which featured “Fingers” Taylor, Sunny Jim and the Twelve Volt Band. Most recently, Cheri was hired to put together all the music for the 2011 "WaveFest" which will feature nationally known "parrot head" entertainers throughout the day.
